So here's the story: We first found out on Saturday, January 16th. As we prepared for two post-holiday parties that night, Mike convinced me to take a pregnancy test before we left for the night, just for peace of mind (you know, in case we would have an adult beverage or two that night). I thought "no way" for a multitude of reasons I won't get into here; just trust me when I say I didn't think it was a good possibility at all. But, I went ahead and took the test while I got ready...the sooner I did it, the sooner we were off to enjoy the festivities. As I finished my makeup, I looked down at the test that had been siting on the bathroom counter and my eyes almost popped out of my head. There it was: two blue lines. One faint, but it was there. I immediately grabbed the test and the box and ran upstairs to Mike. Finn (our baby kitty) nearly jumped out of his skin as I was racing up the steps. After all of our "what does this mean", "could this be right" and reading the box and directions again we decided the best plan of action was to run to the store for THE test...you know the one, the expensive digital one. (I should point out that the test I first took was Equate brand; yes I purchased a Walmart brand pregnancy test. I'm "thrifty". :-)) As you might imagine, I didn't have to "go" again. So Mike filled up a large glass of water and I downed it before we even arrived at the store. During which time Mike's chest was tightening, ha! I drank another bottle of water on the way back home as we discussed how much Walmart brand sucked and that the first test wasn't reliable. um, yeah, sure. Back home, two glasses of water down, tap water running and two minutes later, Mike's eyes confirmed it. I didn't even have to look down. We were pregnant. And there begin my surprised phrase, "oh my God, oh my God, oh my God". A total of 5 test later, it was official...we were going to be parents. There are no words to describe this feeling, it's simply amazing.
We'll be using this blog to share our thoughts, pictures, progress, events and any other ramblings with our friends and family. So welcome to our Sunshine Day, Jackson style of course.
PS. Yes, we still went to both parties and yes we had a great time at both. One of us with and one of us without a little booze. ;-)
